Another wonderful week at Horn Creek. There was a minor COVID situation with a few of the counselors and staff, but the week continued with only minor disruptions to activities. The weather was perfect and we didn't have any travel challenges.
We had a big group at Horn Creek this year that included Grant and I and our kiddos, Nina and Papa, Eric (Wed-Sat), the Chapman's, DD and Big John, and Preston, Hannah, Parker, and Eisley. Horn Creek legacy friends included the Johnson's and Stieben's. The kids all had a ball playing in the sand volleyball court and playground every morning and evening.
We roadtripped with Nina and Papa. More specifically, we met at the Big Texan for dinner, but Colton and my parents left a bit earlier in the day. We stopped again in Amarillo on the way home and had a very eventful, stormy evening watching Texas the Musical. The sky was so dark and we thought for sure we were going to get dumped on, but it only ever lightly rained on us, although the wind was bad a few times.
A few highlights from this week included our great hosts, Brad and Lisa Clark; doing the high ropes course with Grant and Cadie; Wednesday afternoon outing to Bishop's castle with Jim Bishop himself; Adult picnic on "kids night" followed by drumsticks in the Dollar Tree parking lot and watching the sunset over the bluffs; Thursday off-campus adventure day at Mount Princeton Hot Springs that evolved into a beautiful evening in Salina; Grant taking Samuel, Cadie, and Ranger white water rafting on Friday; family blessing time that included DD, Big John, Nina, Papa, and Eric; beautiful weather; Preston and Hannah taking Colton with Parker and Eisely to Royal Gorge park; the little boys having a ball playing in the freezing river and building a damn; and one bear sighting on a hike!
