Sip & See

My mother hosted a "Sip & See" on Saturday in Kansas City and it was a wonderful event. For those that haven't heard of a sip and see, it is a come and go party for friends and family to come meet the new baby. Cadie was a doll the entire time and let everyone hold her. So many people took the time to come meet her which was very meaningful during this busy time of year.

Cadie has been sleeping about 10 hours a night with ~2 breaks for eating or cuddling. I feel so much more rested with her new sleeping pattern.

We are busy for the rest of the week preparing for my sister Courtney's wedding on Saturday! I am so happy for her and her fiance, Ryan Gallet. CJ is going to be an incredibly beautiful bride. This is Courtney holding Cadie last night.

Uncle Eric

Cadie and I arrived in Kansas City on Tuesday and we will be here until Dec. 28. Cadie did awesome once again on the flight.
This pic is Cadie and her Uncle Eric. He is so great with her and he watched her last night while mom and I did a little Christmas shopping. Eric had her doing lots of exercises so she will be strong when he teaches her to rock climb and snowboard.
The past week has been very eventful for Cadie and I. Grant was sick for most of last week so he had to be in
Quarantine so Cadie and I didn't get sick. I really missed his help during the evenings and over the weekend. Cadie and I slept upstairs and Cadie slept for the first time in her room. When we get back from KS I am going to try to get her to sleep in her room and soon in her crib. She is starting to get too big for her swing!

Whipped Cream

Cadie and I are having a "stay at home" day. We are just hanging out at the house and not going anywhere! We always seem to be very busy at the house and we have a great time together. So far today Cadie had a bath, we fixed breakfast and ate with daddy before he left for work, cleaned the kitchen, 2 loads of laundry, a nap, tummy time, reading, prep for dinner, etc. It is the best. This is Cadie just now playing on her mat.

Cadie had a first this past Sunday. Grant and I were at dinner and Cadie just would not stop fussing. She wasn't really crying, just being whiny. We were getting tired of the fussing and Grant took her pacifer, dipped it in some whip cream (we both got shakes), and gave it to Cadie. We went crazy on the pacifer! It was hilarious. She stopped fussing immediately and you could tell she was processing the new taste. We aren't going to make it a habit, but it was funny how fast it worked. So Cadie's first real food was whip cream!

12.4 lbs & 23 inches

Cadie had her 2 month checkup today with Dr. Denison. She passed with flying colors, and as you can see she weighs 12 lbs. 4 oz. The way they weigh babies is so funny. She was just kicking around on the scale making me laugh out loud. She got her shots today which she did not like one bit. She was sleeping when they did it and her eyes just flew open and her face got so red. She opened her mouth to scream but the scream took a few seconds to come out because she was so shocked. I left horrible about it but was thankful that she calmed down in about 30 seconds once I put her back in her sling.

Kansas City here we come

Cadie and I made our first trip to Kansas City Dec. 3-6 to visit my family. Cadie was amazing on the airplane on both trips. On the trip to KC, the people in the seat behind us didn't even realize I had a baby until we stood up to get off the plane. Cadie met Grandma Jack and Uncle Eric for the first time. She slept in Grandma Nicki and Grandpa Ron's (my parents) room at night and I think they responded to her every peep :) On my last night in KC my sister Courtney was holding Cadie when I went to bed, Uncle Eric had her when I woke up next, my Dad had her at 4am when I went to check on her, and my mom brought her to me to eat at 6am. I wonder if she ever slept on her own at all! She is very loved.

The pics of are Grandma Jack and Cadie and then on the plane on the way home. The flight wasn't full so they let me take her carrier on the the plane. The SW folks were so nice and helpful - they made it really easy to travel with an infant.

BFF Avery

On Monday, Dec. 1 Cadie got to meet her friend Avery Elisabeth Gray! Avery is our neighbors Tom and Shauna's brand new baby and she is a doll. Cadie was very sweet while I went and visited with Tom and Shauna. Shauna lives just 4 houses down from me and it has been a fun blessing to have a friend living so close going through the pregnancy and baby experience.

Smiles

Cadie is just now starting to smile. These pics were taken by dad this morning as he woke her up and changed her diaper before leaving for work. She hasn't had such a cute a smile for me yet - I think I need to work on some better jokes. :)
