We celebrated Big John's 74th birthday with our annual trip to Scarborough Faire. Cadie and Colton went early with Big John and Grant, Ranger and I joined them around noon. Cadie was there from the very beginning to the very end because she stayed with Big John after Grant and I and the boys came home. It was a beautiful day and another year of this fun tradition. Both boys had so much fun they couldn't even stay awake on the way home. Happy Birthday Big John! We love you so much!
By Colton Walsh, "it all started in 1982 just kidding it started 4/8/2024 at about 10:00 when someone took a piece of the sun. then they took more and more and soon enough the whole moon was gone and it looked like night. then the animals started to go to sleep then they went crazy when the sun came back. after about an hour it was all over. At the darkest point my dad did fireworks and my grand parents were there and my cousin parker and my friend Thomas."
We really did have a great time skipping school at work for Totality at the Farm. Terri, Mandy, and Parker joined us on Monday. DD, Big John, Kristie, and Thomas came Sunday evening. Jack Ranger had 3 friends come with us - Cooper Glennon, and Ben & Steve Bratton. Ben and Steve's Mom actually came and picked them up at the farm around lunch on Monday so they could get back in town for soccer tryouts - so they didn't even see the eclipse! But they had wanted to come just for fun, and they all definitely had a great time.
The Learning Gardens hosted an Eclipse field trip with a bus load of kids from Marsh Middle School. They set up different learning stations and we all watched the eclipse together by the new Nature Center. It was really fun to see it with friends, family, and the kids from the school. Really fun energy.
The Eclipse was so much cooler than I expected. We had a great view and I loved that it was more than just the darkness, which was also cool. We could see the ring of fire around the sun and the light was so strange. I loved it! 5 stars, would recommend
By Jack Ranger, "My first-time doing track for an actual team was interesting. It was similar to Cross-Country because we would wake up early to practice before school and then go inside and have breakfast during first period. The tryouts were one weeklong and I tried out for long distance which was 1 mile and 1.5 mile. I made it with my best event being 1 mile. The roster was very questionable because multiple kids whose parents just make them do sports were on the team as well as a disabled boy who never actually runs. The people I hung out with during the season were Ben Bratton, Steve Bratton, and Hunter Hubbs. The coach was still Coach Gruber (Cross-Country Coach). The way the team worked was different as well. After people made the team, they had to try out for meets to actually participate. I made multiple meets, but each one I made got rained out. Overall, it was a fun season and a good experience."
