Tadpole

We have had the best Halloween weekend. The highlight has been watching Cadie in her amazingly adorable tadpole costume (purchased at a garage sale thank you very much). She loved wearing it (which was a surprise) and I laughed every time I saw her little behind waddling with her big fin.

So much fun with our neighborhood buds. Spider (Connor), Piglet (Avery), Pumpkin (Dean), Tadpole (Cadence), and Biker dude (Dylan). Thanks for hosting a great party Lisette and Rodney!In other Cadence news... She went #2 in the potty for the first time today! I think it was a fluke, but I will still take it as a good sign. I knew she hadn't gone #2 today, so I plopped her down on the potty and she went right away. We have been talking to her a lot about the potty so I think she did kinda know what to do, but I don't expect to have a repeat performance anytime soon.

If you want a pile made right, you have to do it yourself

Cadie is very into “in” and “out” right now which consists of any activity where she can put something into something else and then take it out. Today this manifested itself with the laundry. She had the grandest time pulling the clean clothes off the couch, making a pile on the floor, taking the laundry to the basket, putting the clothes into the basket, pulling the basket over and crawling in to check on the laundry previously placed in the basket, lay on the clothes in the basket, and then take the clothes out and start again. The fun is never-ending around here!

Through the hall, up the stairs, down the stairs, laying on the floor, running into the dining room, through the kitchen, crawling in the box, pulling things off the shelves. She is unstoppable!

Memories

I haven't been able to work up to a big sentimental post about Cadie's first year. I keep thinking about it, but I can't seem to pinpoint what exactly I want to say. Instead of continuing to delay I am just going to jot down a few memories from Year 1:

- Seeing Cadie's personality develop. She is not afraid of strangers. She tends to be a serious child, but when something is funny to her the sound of her laugh is amazing. She is a very flexible child who is open to love from so many people. She loves animals, her crib, her frog, and going up and down the stairs.

- Newborn memories include: Monster sounds, kicking, SOOOO much spit up, nursing in the green chairs, sleeping in the swing with the crickets, naps together, showers with Dad, and sleeping in a Sam's club box at the Walsh's.

- Trips including first family trip to Cozumel, Horn Creek Colorado with Grandma Nicki and Grandpa Ron, visiting Lindsey and Whitney in Houston, many trip to KC

- Pictures every month for the month progression picture frame, hanging out with Avery and Shauna, and having Cadie underfoot in our bathroom every morning when Grant and I get ready for work

Cadie is more amazing that I every could have dreamed and her Dad and I love her beyond words. It is awesome to think about how much we love her and then to consider how much more God loves us.

Walking

While Grant and I were on our trip Cadence decided she was done with crawling! Walking is her preferred method although she does still walk a bit like a drunken sailer.

Cadie is 21 lbs. 12 oz which is 60% in weight, and she is 30 3/4 inches which is 93% in heighth. At her 1year checkup, the Doctor said she could be tall like her Dad!

Grant and I leave today (in about 3 hours! ahhh!!!) for a Mediterrean cruise. We are meeting my Mom and Dad there and I am so excited. I feel like a kid before summer break. However, I will miss this sweet face so much!

Happy 1st Birthday!

Cadie is one TODAY! We had a family party on Saturday to celebrate. Unfortunately, Cadie woke up on Saturday morning feeling terrible and with a rash all over her body. I was very nervous for awhile, but we finally determined that it was due to an allergic reaction to some antibiotics (Amoxicillin) she has been taking for an earache. We went ahead with the party and she was a trooper, but I am not sure we got much of a smile during the ladybug themed festivities.

My Mom and Dad came in town for the birthday events. Among other things, my mom made Cadie this adorable ladybug pillow case shirt. Cadie had a ladybug costume change prior to the smash cake. I didn't want red and black icing on her cute white shirt.

Cadie is feeling almost 100% better today. She was playing this evening during naked time on her new chair. She thought it was too funny to take all the clothes off her new baby doll from Mimi so that the baby could play naked too.
When surrounded by all new birthday toys that are only 1 day old, why is Dad's laptop still the best thing ever? Or maybe the boxes that the presents came in are the best...
