Sky Ranch: Ranger in Denton Hall (23)

Jack Ranger said his counselors were awesome and he loved being in Sky 3 so he could finally play Mission Impossible. He had such a good week that he fell fast asleep in the car on the way home and then slept the rest of the day in the living room. I love that he still leans against me and falls asleep.

JR got the Intentional award which said, "Ranger! Man oh man what a blessing you were to have in bible study! You were very intentional in your questions and answers! You were also really intentional with your fellow campers! Kade Ephesians 5:15-17"

We were proud that Jack Ranger spoke on Friday evening at campfire night about what he had learned about God that week. 

Sky Ranch: Colton in 4 Score (06)

I think this was Colton's favorite week at Sky yet! When we picked him up, he even asked if he could do a 2nd week later in the summer. He was in the same cabin and the exact same bunk at last year. Thomas was his buddy again this year and we spotted them together in quite a few pictures. Colton did get closer to the lake this year. He went on the boat that pulled the banana boat, and he got near the water at the beachy area near Skawaii. 

He took his balloon animal gear, and it sounds like it was fun! His counselors gave him the Creativity award which said, "Colton, we are honored to have been able to share this week with you. I wanted to give you the creativity award for your constant flow of unique ideas. Your talent with balloons was so awesome to watch this week. The smiles on everyone's faces when they needed it most. We are so lucky to have had you in 4Score. Jack, Josh, TJ - Luke 16:10"

He definitely does have a constant flow of unique ideas! He just loves life and ideas and things and experiences. We went to the farm after we picked the kids up and he was the first one in the lake! I love that goofy grin to pieces. 

7th Grade - Florida or Bust!

Cadie went on a 2-day, 1-night whirlwind trip with twenty-three 7th graders. They went to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. They even had fast passes so they could get through the parks and rides quickly. The Harry Potter ride broke while Cadie was on it and she thought it was pretty cool to have the lights turned on so she could see how everything worked - and then she got to go on the ride again with another free fast pass.

Cadie loved the whole trip and she hung out mostly with Sophia Price, Caroline Roman, Olivia Slaughter, and Marin Denise. Sophia and Cadie roomed together and got only about 5 hours of sleep because they woke up at 6am for another full day. The Velasacoaster, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, and Hagrid's motorbike adventure were her favorite rides. She blew her budget on a wand (it was ONLY $60 she said!).

Surprisingly, no one got sick or hurt. Marin got dehydrated, but after a lot of potato wedges and water, Cadie said she was revived. The brave chaperones were Shannon Taliaferro and Tara Callahan (Cadie's 7th Grade Advisory Teacher). Better them than me!

McKesson Employee Care - Here I Come

On April 15 I was announced as the new VP of Employee Care! I am so excited about this new role which is where I hoped to land in my next opportunity at McKesson. Here is the formal announcement...

HR Shared Services Announces New VP, Employee Care

Team, I’m happy to announce that Erin Walsh is joining the HR Shared Services leadership team as VP, Employee Care effective on Monday, April 18. Erin will report to me and is backfilling the role vacated by Sheila Norden.   In her newly titled role, Erin will lead the People Leader Solutions and HR Service Center teams – ensuring we care for our employees directly and through building and supporting the capabilities of our people leaders. Megan Henderson, Niki Smith, Randi Claytor, Kia Snell, Margaret Marks, Sylvie Lamouline and Sarah Nguyen will report to Erin. Erin joined McKesson in 2020 as VP, Change Management/ Org Effectiveness within Talent Management & Development. Prior to joining, she led the change leadership team at Southwest Airlines. Erin’s career has also taken her to both PepsiCo and Accenture. Erin and her husband Grant of 22 years live in Dallas with their three children Cadence (13), Jack Ranger (11) and Colton (8). Her family enjoys time outdoors at their farm near Canton, TX, home remodeling, and traveling. Here are pictures of my Organization Effectiveness & Change Leadership team that it will be so hard to say good-bye to (but at least I am not going far). Thank you Sharon Tehrani, Ana Gregory, Shannon Long, Mia Cleveland, Wendy Merrett, Allie Morbidelli, Laura Peck, and Rachel Petty for making it a wonderful experience so far at McKesson. You are incredible!

The next is a picture of my TMD LT Team that welcomed me and supported me as I onboarded to McKesson. Natalie, Susanne, LeAnn, Kristen, Tim, Mark, and Christine - I am going to miss working with you!

And finally, my new HRSS LT! It was perfect timing to get together with Dan, Lorelei, Melissa, Jenna, Tiffany and Shannon in Dallas for Melissa's first LT offsite. We laughed, planned, and got to know each other quickly and authentically. 

I am so excited for what is to come!

That's a Wrap! School's out for summer...

Good-bye 2nd, 5th, and 7th grade! I am not sure we are quite ready for summer, but it has arrived anyway. I was really proud of all the great acknowledgements from teachers, coaches, etc.

For Colton, "We have enjoyed having Colton in aftercare!  He is always kind and helpful (plus he made me a balloon dog!). Have a fun summer! Charlie Kenyon"

For Ranger "Ranger, I have loved teaching you this year! You're a gifted writer - truly! Keep it up. Mrs. Huttsman"

A note from Cadie's rowing coach Nan Miller, "I am so happy to hear Cadie is enjoying rowing.  She is catching on quickly because she knows how to use her legs instead of her back and shoulders.  This is something you just naturally get or spend years trying to perfect.  She's a natural!"

End of year activities for Colton included a field trip to the arboretum (thanks Heather Winslow for chaperoning), field day (thanks, again, to Heather Winslow for hosting the breakfast party, and sorry Colton broke your flower pot - hope you liked your replacement pot from Home Depot), Market Day where his balloon dogs were a HUGE hit, and playing in the rain with Betsy.

For Ranger, he enjoyed swimming with his buddies at Brooks' house, riding his bike all around the neighborhood, and general silliness.

Cadie had her final Disney-themed choir concert, lots of time with Maci (we even did an evening showing her how to do curly hair), book club (Thanks for hosting Haley and Brooke DeVault), a field trip to a nature preserve, and a decent amount of stress over final exams, which of course, she aced.

Spring Football Wrap-up

Big John says he is retiring! He did one final season with Ranger, Hunter Myers, Christopher Smith, Cooper Clifton, Cooper Humphries, Everest Applegate, Luke Hornbach, and Tommy Cox. They played hard and won 2 games in the final tournament with Grant as a stand-in coach. 

Big John wrote letters to the boys at the end of the season. Here is his letter to Ranger.

"Ranger, Once again I was so happy to be your team's coach. I really appreciate the feedback you gave me all season. Your positive attitude on the field was contagious. I hope you will always stay positive, especially when you make a bad play. Be good on yourself - not hard. You do a lot more that is successful than you take credit for! I always want to be your coach in life! Love, Big John"

Another sweet note from Whitney Myers, "Grant & Erin, Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into our sweet football team! These boys are so fun to watch and see improve with each game. It is a great group and I really appreciate everything you have done to get us all together. I'm looking forward to what is to come. Thanks again! Whitney"

Colton did another season with Coach Cherkassky and he scored his first pass touchdown! The crowd went wild! Colton continues to want to be a part of the team, but is less committed to practice and improving his skills. Not quite sure where football will go for him. Am thinking we will try a few other sports camps over the summer to see if there is anything else he enjoys more than football.
