Six Flags
Last Friday evening I was wrapping up work and Grant walked in and said, "Let's go to six flags!" We quickly loaded up the kids and headed out! Traffic wasn't great, but we got there in enough time to have a great evening. There are so many rides that the kids can ride that we barely even made it into the kids area.

Best I can do - still pretty cute
I wanted to take the kids to get pictures taken. I wanted to get some good photos of Jack Ranger at 18 months and also the kids have really cute Easter outfits. But, I don't know when professional photos will happen (aka never) so I wrangled the kids as best as I could on Sunday after church. I am not a photographer and so am not good with lighting and such, but I think I got a few good shots. This is Jack Ranger's Easter outfit and he is just so handsome in it! This isn't Cadie's Easter outfit, but she looked adorable and I love this dress because it was a gift from aunt CJ and she added the flowers to the dress. Cadie wants to wear that gold necklace all the time and I can't get her to give up the red shoes either. Cadie, I love you and your individual sense of style!

Aunt CJ and Uncle Rhino
We took a trip to Austin last weekend and Grant attended the Austin Magic Auction and the kids and I had the best time staying with my sister Courtney and her husband Ryan. They were great hosts! Courtney had purchased toys for the kids to have at her house and Ryan grilled out for us Friday evening and then fixed us brunch on Sunday morning. The kids loved their dogs Mona and Nellie and we all slept great! Jack Ranger slept in Ryan's office and Cadie slept on a little pallet on the floor of the guest room where Grant and I stayed.
On Saturday morning CJ and Ryan took us to "secret beach." I asked them if they thought it would be busy and they said they didn't know because they had really never been anywhere in Austin so early on a Saturday morning :). Welcome to life with toddlers! Well, at 9:30 in the morning it was not busy and so Cadie had a great time swimming mostly in the buff. The water was cold and it was a little breezy, but we had a great time and then got warm again laying on towels in the sun eating snacks. On Saturday evening we had a fun dinner at Shady Grove Diner.
We really wished we could have seen a few more friends and family while we were there (Aunt Whitney), but the time flew by and we wanted to make it back to Dallas on Sunday at a resonable time. I hope we can go back really soon!

Ranger Danger is 18 months!
Jack Ranger and I went to the dr. yesterday for his 18 month appointment. He was perfect, but didn't like getting 3 shots. Stats:
- 22 lbs. 5 oz. = 10th percentile for weight (we have to get him to eat more! I guess you get skinny playing in your backyard 4-5 hours a day!)
- 32 1/4 inches = 50th percentile for height
He is the sweetest little 18 month old!
- Still sleeps about 12 hours at night, generally 8pm to 8am and then 2-3 hours of naps during the day. Sometimes two short naps, sometimes one long nap - it just depends on the day.
- Most common words: Mama, dada, yo yo (cadie), DD, dog (his lovely), juice, choo choo, bus
- Is rough and tumble and rarely cries even with multiple falls during the day
- No longer will sit in the high chair so eats most meals at a little table in our dining room

Egg Hunting
We had a wonderful Easter which included:
We love the Pi Phi hunt which includes eggs, petting zoo and new this year - a train! The original date was rained out, but we didn't know so Cadie, Jack Ranger and I attended and got to have an afternoon at the park on our first try. The next Thursday we tried again and this time there was no rain-out. The funniest part to me was that they had an area for 3+ and then a 1-2 yrs. area. The 3+ area was stripped of eggs in about 10 seconds. After 30 mins. the 1-2 year old were still wandering around drooling on eggs, kicking them around, shaking them, dropping them back on the ground. Cadie eventually had to come help Jack Ranger with his eggs. After the event we were all walking back to our cars and Cadie looked up at DD and said, "I would really love to go with you DD." Of course sweet DD could not resist so DD and Cadie went off and did their thing and JR and I had a lovely remainder of the evening together.
The Easter bunny not only brought new books, but also lots of eggs in our backyard! We had to rush home after church and brunch with the Walsh family to do the hunt before the storms began. Not sure if Grant, Cadence or Jack Ranger had more fun running around in the rain getting the eggs. I know what mom had the most fun doing! The long morning and sound of rain in the afternoon resulted in 3-hour naps all around - awesome.
This is a special pink dress Cadie wore for Easter. Mama D, Dawna's mother, made this dress for Aunt Whitney when Whitney was little. It looked adorable on Cadie and fit her perfectly. I wish she had worn the white panties instead of the purple Ariel panties that showed through, but not worth a fight as we rushed off to church.

- Three Easter Egg Hunts! The Pi Phi Easter Egg hunt with DD, hunt in our backyard after church on Easter, and another hunt the evening of Easter at DD and Big John's house.
- Easter baskets which included a Thomas the Train book for Jack Ranger and a recordable book for Cadie so she can hear me read a book to her while I am away on business trips.
- Dying and decorating sparkle Easter Eggs
- Erin doing a reading at the Easter service at our church
- Wonderful time to remember the death and resurrection of our Savior!

Chi-town friends
Yesterday reminded me of that song, "Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other gold." Nicole is one of my gold friends. When I transferred in 10th grade from my tiny Christian, private school to the big public high school I felt lonely and out of place. Nicole befriended me and I have always felt she was a kindred spirit.
I came to Chicago this week for a business trip and I was able to squeeze in some time yesterday afternoon to visit Nicole and her three sweet children. Noah and Ella are 4 and little Hans is just 10 weeks. I got lots of snuggles and baby-holding and I got to catch up with Nicole and see a glimpse of her life. Her home is so sweet and I loved walking to eat at Honey, playing at the park and helping with bath time.
Nicole's family moved to Chicago during college and so we have really only seen each other every few years. We were trying to remember and I think it has been 4 years since I last saw her! But she is one of those friends where you just pick up where you left off and the friendship is comfortable and easy. I hope it isn't another 4 years before we see each other!! But if it is, Nicole, you will be in my heart and prayers!
Another Chicago treat was that my friend Crystal from Accenture picked me up from Nicole's house and took me to her house for dinner and a short but very sweet visit where I got to see her beautiful home, meet her dog Bailey and eat a delicious meal fixed by her husband. We had a great time and then Crystal dropped me off at the train station to head into downtown Chicago where I will be doing business for the rest of the trip. Crystal and I worked together at Accenture and we got the chance to travel the world together. She is so kind and one thing I love about her is that we always seem to laugh a lot together! Thanks SOOOO much for driving so far to spend time with me last night Crystal. It was wonderful to see you!
