Snow

Cadie and I are in Kansas City right now visiting family and hosting a baby shower for my sister Bethany who is due with her first child in June. We woke up this morning to a lovely snow! We were worried that it would impact the attendance at Bethany's shower, but her brave friends came out in force and we had a great time.

Jump and Go

Cadie has always been a kicker. She had kicked her legs vigorously since she was born, I think she came out kicking! Now that she is big enough she loves her Jump and Go. She sits in it every morning and wears herself out jumping. In this video she has the hiccups at the beginning which is kinda cute. Sorry for the orientation, I can't figure out how to rotate video.

I do this stupid "rap" with her when she is in the jumper. I am too embarrassed to do it on camera, but imagine this to the tune of Slim Shady.
I'm the Cute Baby, yes I'm the Real Baby, all you other Cute Babies are just imitating. Will all the Cute Babies please jump up, please jump up... lol

For those interested in the sleep update - Cadie has gone to bed in her crib for the past 2 nights at 7:30 with minimal or no crying!! I am so happy. She is fussing a little bit in the night but it isn't too bad and I am so excited about getting into a good and non-tramatic routine.

High Chair

For those following the sleep saga... Tonight only 10 mins of screaming and she is asleep in her crib. I consider that major success!

Friday night we had our friends Kaci and Jon over for dinner. Cadie sat in her high chair for the first time and loved it. She sat in it totally quietly for almost an hour. Daddy rewarded her with a bit of whipped cream (I did not approve!).

Crying

Cadie eventually went to sleep last night on her own, but not without a struggle. We set the timer for 10 minutes and went and checked on her every time it went off. It took a few times through the timer but she did eventually go to sleep and she slept straight through to 5am, and then after I fed her at 5am she slept until 8:30am. We had a rough day yesterday and I needed that rest!

Cadie has enjoyed a new activity this week - sitting in the Bumbo and looking outside. It has been beautiful and she loves listening to the water and the wind chimes and looking at the backyard.

We had a first of many more to come yesterday - I bought my first diapers! I know it is hard to believe since Cadie is over 4 months old. But due to the generosity of our friends and family I have had enough diapers to talk until today. Thank you!

4 Month Dr. Appt

Cadie was definitely showing off for the dr. today. She was laughing, kicking, rolling over, and having a great time until she got her shots. DD went with me and we had a good time laughing at Cadie being her silly self (minus the shots part). The main thing the dr. said was that she is a great weight and perfectly capable of sleeping through the night. He said she is waking up so much because she is getting smarter and now realizes that if she fusses that I will come and hold her and probably also feed her. I guess I am going to have to be a tough mom and start making her sleep on her own. Grant has been telling me that for awhile now, but it is so hard.

Crib/Torture Device

Cadie has made sure I understand that her beautiful crib with the perfect bedding and fun mobile secretly doubles as a baby torture device. The closest I can convince her to get to it is to sleep beside the crib in her swing. We have made some progress because she now sleeps in the swing while it is still instead of it swinging all night long. Spoiled baby! I think I am just going to have to let her cry in the crib or she will never sleep in it. :(

The poor child is really getting too big for her swing. Wish me luck with crib boot camp which starts tonight! Let me know if you have any tips.

Where is the Poo?

What a big week! Here are the highlights:
- Monday through Wednesday Cadie and I spent time in Houston with my best friend Lindsey Coffman and my sister-in-law Whitney Walsh. Cadie was again perfect on the flights. We had a great time and Cadie slept all night in the bed with me which I thought was a good thing because I thought it would make it more likely that she would be able to sleep in her crib (I was wrong). She didn't poo the whole time we were in Houston! She waited until Big John picked us up from the airport to finally let go of 3 days worth. Fun Fun
- Thursday through Saturday we had construction crews crawling all over our house because we are adding on a bedroom and bathroom.
- Friday evening through Sunday morning my Dad was in town from Kansas City to work on a house he and my mom have purchased as a potential retirement home. The house was a steal because it was in just horrid condition. The guy that lived there didn't ever shower and we are not sure he knew how to use a toilet. Anyway, it was disgusting but it started to look and smell much better. Cadie and I spent a few hours on Saturday over at the house with him taking stuff out to the curb for people to take.

A few fun Cadie updates:
- I packed up Cadie's 0-3 month clothes and got out her 3-6 month clothes this week. She is getting so big.
- Grant introduced Cadie to the "excer-saucer" last weekend and she loves it. My Aunt Kathy gave us the excer-saucer - thank you!
- Cadie met Grant's grandfather, Chief, a few weekends ago and we got a fun big of Cadie, Grant, John, and Chief together
