Happiness

I feel so thankful. There are times when life is tough and times when life is sweet. I feel that I need to take a deep breath right now and inhale the sweetness. Grant and I are comfortable in our skin, fairly stable in our careers and in-sync with our marriage. Cadence is lovely and heathly and a constant source of joy. My pregancy with baby boy Walsh has been easy and fun. Our parents are in good health and the most wonderful grandparents. It is the best feeling to be able to enjoy our lives and our family, make dreams for our future and try our best to savor the moments. God is so good.

Sassy

Cadie in her carseat tearing up a napkin into tiny pieces and throwing them around the backseat.
- "Cadie, please be a good girl and stop tearing up the napkin."
- Cadie responds, "Cadie naughty girl!" and the tearing up of the napkin continues

Mom and Cadie upstairs playing and Mom yells down to Grant...
- "Will you please take the trailer off the the Tahoe so I don't have to pull it around tomorrow?"
- Grant, "In a little while, I am working on something right now and will get to it in a bit..."
- Cadie chimes in, "No whining Dada!"
Grant goes to take the trailer off the Tahoe right away.

Cadie likes beauty-shop lately which includes brushing Mom's hair. One day after she had been brushing for awhile,
- "Cadie, how does Mommy's hair look?"
- Cadie steps around in front of me, takes a look and declares "CRAZY!" And she was right.

Cadie got all her key accessories ready today when I told her DD was on the way to pick her up. Only the essentials - glasses, purse and baby Daisy.

Wonder Where She Gets It?

Who is teaching Cadie to make all these silly faces? Both Daddy and Cadie had a fun time making Mom laugh at my birthday lunch at Hackberry Creek with Grant, Cadie, DD, Big John, Preston, and his girlfriend Asusana (so sorry I am not sure how to spell it).

Cadie was adorable and looking kinda like an 80s dancer in her outfit from Nana. She kept twirling around and I am wondering if this is about to become a favorite outfit that I can't get her out of. Not sure if she is at that stage yet, but regardless she loved the "ruffles."

First Shower

My sweet neighborhood playgroup hosted a little shower on Saturday and I felt so special! We had a wonderful brunch and they had a diaper cake (Thanks Jennifer!), delicious chocolate cake and such thoughtful gifts for Baby Boy Walsh. I just love these ladies and am so thankful to live in a neighborhood where I know I could call any of them if I needed anything. Thank you!!!

We missed getting Giselle and Dean in the picture because Dean seemed to have an allergic reaction to something and they had to scoot.

Dylan and Cadie reaching for more cake. Actually, I think what really happened is that Cadie was reaching for cake and when I wouldn't let her have more, she stole Dylan's.

Cadie was an absolute PILL during the shower/playgroup. Smearing cake on her friends and the table, throwing fits, climbing on everything....We came right home at 11am and I marched her up to her room and shut her in there with a cup of milk and told her to work it out! She was quiet for about an hour and then I heard over the monitor "ready Mama." I went and got her out and she was fine the rest of the day. Baby Boy Walsh better get ready to fend for himself quickly!

Nursery and Big Girl Bed

We had a full weekend with Nana and Papa that included Papa building Cadie a picnic table, trip to the zoo, swimming, mini birthday celebration (my bday is July 18), but the biggest activity of all was getting Baby Boy's nursery set up and moving Cadie to a big girl bed! She has been sleeping in her double-bed since Saturday and the transition could not have been smoother. We made quite a big deal over the bed and her new bedding and she loves climbing up her steps into her big girl bed. Next up - potty training and then bye-bye to the paci :)

I love the new nursery and am still arranging clothes and getting up decorations, but it is really taking shape and I can't wait to see our new man in his room.

July 4th

Last Friday night the wheels just fell off and I ended up not even getting out of bed all day Saturday. Grant took Cadie to brunch, ran errands, took her to a friend's bday party in the afternoon, and put her to bed. I stayed in my robe all day and slept for most of it. I finally started to feel better late Sunday afternoon and was so thankful for the opportunity to rest. I am not sure what was going on, but I am thankful that I had a husband who allowed me to listen to my body and have a needed break.

On Monday we spent the AM at the Walsh's for the annual July 4th parade. Cadence loved it and sat through the whole thing enjoying the suckers (that parade has the most candy EVER), floats, friends, cousins and music.

Another weekend highlight was watching fireworks with our great neighbors (Lisette, Rodney, Dylan and baby Connor) from their balcony. The country club right across the street does a great fireworks show and we were able to just walk down to their house and have a great view. We originally left Cadie in her bed and took the monitor, but at the last minute Grant didn't want her to miss it so he ran down and woke her up. She really did enjoy the fireworks, but was pretty sleepy.

On Monday afternoon we had our good friends the Dickinson's over for swimming and a cookout which was a great conclusion to a lovely weekend.

The Joy of a Box

Baby Boy's Antique Toy bedding came last week in a box that is just the right size for a 20 month old. Toddlers are just the absolute best. We have played with that box for hours. She loves "hiding" in it and popping out, putting all her favorite toys in it, pushing it around the house, the possibilities are pretty much endless.
